Why write anything down at all?
A short note on learning in public, and what this blog is for.
I keep learning things and losing them. A paper makes sense on Tuesday; by Friday the intuition has evaporated and only the jargon is left. Writing is the fix: not writing about things, but writing through them, until the idea either holds together or falls apart on the page.
So this blog is a notebook I happen to keep in public. Mostly AI and machine learning, because that’s where my head is, but really anything I’m trying to understand.
The rules I’m setting for myself
- Intuition before formalism. If I can’t explain it with a picture or an analogy first, I don’t understand it yet.
- Short beats complete. A note that exists beats a masterpiece that doesn’t.
- Honesty about confusion. “I don’t get this part yet” is a valid sentence and I intend to use it.
That’s it. That’s the whole manifesto. See you in the notes.
